The problem is the sound gap during the switch. I use this on some songs and it works kind of ok. So If you use A01, B01, C01 and D01 to sounds for the same song, then you can switch between them using one click on the bank button on the M50. There is a post in the forum where it is demonstrated a technique where you store the combis for a song in different banks, but the same position. Keyboard Rig: Korg Kronos, Moog Sub 37, Waldorf Blofeld Module, Neo Instruments Ventilator II, Moog MiniFooger Delay, Strymon BigSky, Roland KC-150, Mackie 802-VLZ4 Mixer You can, however, switch between combis or between programs by sending a program change message, or a CC #32 and program change if you need to also change banks (CC #0 isn't needed, and for CC #32, 0 is the first bank, 1 is the second, etc.)Īnother option is to stay in combi mode (you can always copy a single program into a combi) and use a footswitch to move to the next combi every time you hit it, or use a pedal like the Tech 21 MIDI Mouse to move both up and down. Without sending Sysex, you can't switch between combi and program mode.
The FCB1010 does not without replacing the stock ROM with a hacked one.Ĭurrent Korg Gear: KRONOS 88 (4GB), M50-73 (PS mod), RADIAS-73, Electribe MX, Triton Pro (MOSS, SCSI, CF, 64MB RAM), DVP-1, MEX-8000, MR-1, KAOSSilator, nanoKey, nanoKontrol, nanoPad 2, 3x DS1H, 7x PS1, FC7 (yes Korg, NOT Yamaha). But you have to have a controller that can send the appropriate SYSEX.
I use a midi controller (a Behringer FCB1010) to select favorite patches when live (piano, organ, lead, strings, organ 2) so it's do-able. Gear: Korg M50 / Korg SP250 / Lexicon Omega board / AKG6 / DbDrums 6 / Behringer BX8 / QuadCore PC: Cubase 5, Reason 5, Native Instruments
IDEA: It would be awesome to download a firmware's update to use the numpad buttons as combi/program direct triggers. PD: the 4 chord-assign buttons are the most useless invention i've ever seen for a musician enabled to take real benefit from this kind of synths. The most common nature of a keyboard player LIVE. So simple, connect a MIDI controller to the M50, and select different instruments. (and avoiding the use of a computer on stage of course) I'd love to find a way through a MIDI sign. Like sending some signal to select: Bank B - Combi 045, or Banc C - Program 012 ?.Īs the workstation lacks of LIVE performance buttons (numpad is a joke, and overwriting the 4 bank-defaults buttons is also too few, I do progressive rock and play not less than 3 different combi/progs. Please Help, Is there a way to connect a controller (pad or simple key-notes) to the workstation and accomplish to send it MIDI messages to change presets ?
